The Michigan Parkinson Foundation (MPF) needed tools to allow them to self-maintain their website as much as possible to cut marketing costs for web updates and increase donations and sponsorship. MPF selected Courtland Consulting to build the web enhancement solutions necessary to provide the Foundation with long-term cost savings for website maintenance. Courtland upgraded the Parkinsonsmi.org home page with a streamlined the site navigation with cascading style sheets and dynamically display upcoming events from the website database.
Courtland programmed custom E-Commerce web forms to securely transmit and accept online payments for their event and donation forms, which was setup through PayPal Pro. The forms submit important contact and registration information to designated staff and the data is stored in an online database.
It was difficult for MPF to keep up-to-date information on their state-wide Support Group listing, so Courtland designed an interactive Michigan map for visitors to easily find and view support group contact and location information in their area. The organization was setup to maintain the support group content themselves for simple publication to the website. Courtland programmed a MySQL database and file upload process to maintain this information. Courtland worked with MPF to plan out a phased web enhancement plans to make improvements over time due to budget constraints. Some of the web solution improvements include a custom listserve tool to manage email distribution list s and allow visitors to sign up for communications.
In addition, a custom online calendar of events tool was developed for MPF to manage the posting of their events and news. A MySQL database stores and dynamically displays events across the website and is easily maintained from one location by the customer.
We have been very pleased with the progress of the website and of Courtland’s work. All staff have been conscientious, knowledgeable and capable. They have responded promptly and thoroughly to all requests and have additionally made improvement in other aspects of our communications. Feedback from our target audience has been extremely positive, noting the attractiveness and the ease of use of the website. From a management perspective, improvements have resulted in our ability to obtain information about usage and we have been able to advance our communication capabilities.
